Cloud Computing's Impact on Network Design

Richard Palmer
Juniper Networks
About the talk:

Traditional network design no longer supports what people want to do with their data networks. This is not only a matter of scale; companies such as Facebook, Amazon, Google, and Apple are transforming how the Internet is being used. What does that mean, and what are the implications for the networks that enable these services? How do companies go about architecting their future networks? This talk provides an inside view into how we build the networks we use every day and how cloud computing is shaping these trends.

About the speaker:

Wellfleet Communications and Synoptics Communications merged, John Chambers took over Cisco and Netscape IPO'd. Networks, internetworking and the Internet were all beginning their exponential growth, creating incredible economic opportunity for entrepreneurs, engineers and ambitious people willing to move to Silicon Valley. Leveraging a life-long passion for technology, business and systems, Richard joined the new gold rush and began working with enterprises throughout California to build the network foundation that the future would be built upon. Since that time, Richard has worked for several network equipment manufacturers (including Nortel, Cisco and Juniper) designing ever larger networks to support the increasing demands of employees and consumers. As a long-time customer-facing engineer for the companies whose routers and switches provide the foundation for today's cyber economy, Richard brings a wealth of real-world experience to the ongoing conversation of how to connect everything and empower everyone.
